A performance on the borders of installation, dance and new circus, PLI ran away with both the Main Journey Prize and the Spectator’s Prize at this year’s Czech Dance Platform.

In PLI, a single performer plunges into a schizophrenic reconstruction of the world according to Baroque philosopher G. W. Leibniz. Baroque robustness is replaced with clearly delineated space as the heavy build-up of motifs if offset by the material minimalism of 22 chairs. PLI is a remarkable solo performance, which has found success with both audiences and critics.

Viktor Černický (CZ/SK)

Viktor Černický is a graduate of the Physical Theatre studio in Brno. His work, often emerging from the relationships between the subjective body of the performer and the object, sits on the borders of dance, physical theatre, and contemporary clowning and circus. In 2017, he was nominated for Czech Dance Platform’s Dancer of the Year and Dance Production of the year for his performance PAROLAPOLEA (2016). A special prize was also created for him, in the form of participation at the Choreographic Research Week in Bassano del Grappa.
